In the world of rock, cheats are legion: the ones that don't sing (Milli Vanilli), the ones that don't exist (Crazy Frog) and then the ones that are just plain bad.
The Imposteurs picked out a risky name, one that could easily come back and bite them in the ass-but no. Indeed they come armed with incomparable folk-pop songs! Let the naysayers suck it up and choke on it....
Bertrand (guitar & vocals) & Florian (guitars, second vocal) met during the 90s.
After their first, private, group (Insitu), they created the Imposteurs in 2006 to reveal the group's inherent class to the world at long last.
The Imposteurs' guitars ring out like the best folk bands' (Belle & Sebastian for one) and Bertrand's multiplicity of voices, bluesy, folksy or lyrical recalls Jeff Buckley.
The originality of the group is their ability to shake themselves free of the yoke of classic pop, adding a touch of gypsy swing or Delta blues.
All this on the Imposteurs' first lp, available on PoK since January... And it's gorgeous.
