Some of the most beautiful, soaring pop of the moment is coming out of northern France.
Elegiac, captivating pop, skilfully blending rippling keyboards & the ceaseless swirling of impetuous guitars. A pop that may reference the Cure, Pink Floyd & My Bloody Valentine but in the end creates its own singular, fascinating world of Siamese.
Siamese are from Arras, formed in 2003 by Sebastien (vocals, guitar), Fx (guitars, keyboards), Xavier (bass) & Benoit (drums & samples).
Their name, drawn from the Cure's monumental Siamese Twins, doesn't make them the nth clone of Robert Smith's band. Au contraire, Siamese have reinvented a soaring kind of pop, with its roots in the best of 80s New Wave, but also in the shoegazing of the 90s (Slowdive, Ride).
An intriguing, mysterious, mineral universe.
Siamese, the ideal soundtrack to a voyage to the bottom of the China Sea or a trip to the Uyuni salt desert. A wonderful invitation to go travelling.
