There is a place in Guatemala called Pascual Abaj, close to Chichicastenango.
A mystical little hill, a centre of Mayan belief, where the shamans exorcise their exorcisms, pray their prayers and incant their incantations. Chez PoK, we're pretty sure we've hit on the music the priests are feeding, an enraged, organic music: the music of Saint Amour.

Amerindian music. That's how Saint Amour describes it himself. So that's it. A music that mixes electronic and electric for a wild, black sound that's sometimes bilious & oppressive, but always fascinating and gripping.

Saint Amour is one man, Julien. And if we had to cite his single greatest musical influence, it would be Suicide and the sonic experimentations of Alan Vega & Martin Rev. Or maybe Throbbing Gristle.

But when Saint Amour sets aside the drum machine, it's to compose torch songs beautiful enough to make you weep, such as This World, the bonus track free with the Back to the Wood with a Modern Jacket ep.
