One day a California girl, Alexandra Johnstone, went along to a sale of musical instruments with her old friend Miles where they discovered some treasures, among them a trumpet, an old keyboard & a banjo. Back in Miles's room, Alexandra decided to found the band Monster.
Armed with their guitars and the instruments discovered at the sale, they began to compose their first tracks, a subtle mixture of folk melody and rock energy.

As the months went by, and without ever losing their authenticity or the freshness that characterises each note of their work, Monster acquired a certain artistic maturity and live experience that have made them, according to L.A. Underground, "one of the favourites of the Los Angeles underground scene."

Indeed, the talented young songwriter Alexandra Johnstone takes her tunes to the frontier of blues, of rock and folk... a lo-fi lyricism with a disarming simplicity.

To tell her stories, Alexandra uses her magnificent voice, in turns melancholic and more minimalist; stories often tinged with energetic blues, or a naked sincerity reminiscent of Catpower.

In France, the Le Jardin Collectif label have signed them and are releasing Monster's début album. In the States, the band are on the Californian label The New Black.
